Balancing Culture and Belonging (5 of 5) | Getting It Right

Updated: Jun 5, 2023

As we consider the challenge of balancing culture and belonging, strength comes into the picture. How often are people in the organization able to bring their best selves to work AND leverage their strengths to get the job done? Sadly, too many organizational cultures fail to harness the strengths that are represented in people from diverse backgrounds with diverse ways of thinking and problem solving.

A possible approach to address that is with the Requisite Organization strategy. This framework focuses on ensuring that the right people are placed in the right role, and are able to do the right work at the right time. It sounds rather straightforward and logical, but it can require having to break an organizational system in order to build it back up.

Whatever it looks like to pursue getting it right, which is essentially change management, remember the importance of unity of purpose, kindness in the process, and growth of employees. Striking an authentic and transparent balance between culture and belonging can be achieved as the answers are found within individuals, teams, and organizations.
